Discovery College took center stage at the recent ESF Leadership Conference, an event that brought together senior leaders from across all 23 ESF schools to collaborate on the future of learning.

Our students opened the prestigious gathering with an incredible display of talent, confidence, and critical thinking. The proceedings kicked off with two beautiful musical performances by Trisha, whose artistry set an inspiring tone for the entire conference.

Following the musical opening, Eshaana, Brooke, Jasper, Emma, Vili, and Verabella joined a featured panel discussion exploring the future of education. Speaking directly to an audience of top educators and leaders, the panelists shared insightful perspectives on where learning is headed, how classrooms can adapt to a changing world, and what students need to thrive.

Throughout the session, our students demonstrated exceptional poise, maturity, and active engagement with the room. Facing a large audience of senior staff can be daunting, yet they represented Discovery College with absolute distinction. Their ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity directly reflects the core values and skills we cultivate at DC every day—fostering confident, reflective, and articulate young leaders.

As we look forward to our Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, our Year 5 and 6 students are getting ready, thanks to an engaging cultural experience, led by our Chinese Teachers. After exploring traditional folklore, students crafted their own lanterns using colorful tie-dye techniques that blended Chinese heritage with artistic expression. It was wonderful to see their creations setting a festive tone for our Mid-Autumn celebrations. Their final products are now on display in the Main Foyer, and we warmly invite parents to drop by and admire our students' creativity!

Term 1 CCAs commence Monday, 21 September and will run until Friday, 4 December 2026.

Please note:

• Student activities are visible within the "Activities" section of Ding! VLE.
• Parents access Ding! VLE in their ESF App (not Hub) mobile app; a "how-to guide" is available here. Students' daily activities are displayed on their Ding! VLE homepage.
• Students or parents must inform their activity leader of any absences. If a student is absent for two or more sessions without prior notification, their spot will be offered to the waiting list.
• An “After-school activities bus” is available to all students. Please register for the activity bus only on days an activity is “Allocated and Confirmed”. After-school activity bus information and sign-up is available here.  

Dismissal Procedures:

All primary school students remaining on campus for after-school activities will be dismissed from the Foyer at 4:30pm.

• Years 5 and below (Walkers): Must be collected directly by a parent/caregiver at the front of the school.
• Year 6 Students: May walk home independently.
• Secondary Students: May walk home independently.
• Primary CCAs on Foreshore: Students will return to the campus and be dismissed from the back gate.
• Bus Riders: Students using the After-school activities bus will be handed over to the Bus Escort at the designated CCA bus waiting Area in the Foyer. Secondary bus riders and Year 6 students should head straight to the front of the school. Note: Bus riders whose activities run past 4:30pm will be permitted to leave at 4:30pm to catch the CCA bus.

Cancellation Policy:
In the event of a cancellation, we will provide 'Advanced Notice' whenever possible, typically through a message on the ESF App/ email, at least 24 hours in advance. However, in cases of unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather or emergencies, we may issue a 'Same Day Notice'. This will be communicated as early as possible, no later than 1pm on the day of the event, ensuring that parents and students are informed as promptly as possible.

Highlights below from a recent hard-fought Netball game at HKIS. Our Girls played with grit and determination, pushing right to the very end with one point short of victory.

Are you interested in coding, AI, or STEM? Whether you are a beginner looking to step foot in the field, an expert ready to show off your skills, or someone who wants to build a network of computer science enthusiasts, ESF CoCo is back for its 2026 iteration and ready to bring together like-minded students.

ESF CoCo is an annual Student-led computing conference for ESF secondary students, featuring workshops and hackathons for all skill levels (so you don’t have to know anything to attend!). This event is for secondary school students. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, 3 October (hackathons) and Sunday, 4 October (workshops) at ESF South Island School. Free food and merch will be provided on the days, so be sure not to miss out!
