Primary Students Raise Funds for Rescue Organisation

Over the weekend, a group of Year 4 and 5 students took action, inspired by what they learned from their Year 3 classmates during their Units of Inquiry (UOI) studies on local communities and the systems in place. This unit significantly raised awareness about Villa Kunterbunt and other local animal rescue groups.

Dilys, Eliyah, Hugo and Sadie from Years 4 and 5 were motivated to help and decided to raise money for VKB by selling handmade origami. While attending their parents' rugby game, they sold their special origami and donated all the proceeds to Villa Kunterbunt.

The organisers at VKB were thrilled to hear about this generous initiative and were proud of the DC students for taking action. Well done to our primary students for using their kindness to give back to the community!

Year 10 IDU Week: Collaborative Earth Art on Peng Chau

Year 10 students recently took part in an enriching field trip on Tuesday to Peng Chau as part of their Order in Chaos interdisciplinary unit. This experience encouraged students to explore the fascinating connections between mathematics, art, and the natural world.

Throughout the day, students explored the island to collect natural materials and capture photographs of nature and cultural landmarks. Inspired by the works of land artists such as Robert Smithson and Andy Goldsworthy, they used found materials to create their own earth artworks. Each piece reflected mathematical ideas such as symmetry, pattern, and proportion, showing how creativity and analytical thinking can come together in beautiful ways.

The students demonstrated impressive teamwork, imagination, and problem-solving as they transformed their observations into meaningful artistic expressions. Their final works serve as a celebration of both artistic exploration and mathematical insight, showcasing how learning can extend far beyond the classroom.

Thank you for allowing the Arts Team to take our students to make earth art!
