Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Parent Information Fair this week. It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout from our community, and our teachers thoroughly enjoyed sharing insights into our curriculum and the day-to-day student experience.

Partnerships between home and school are at the heart of what we do, and your active presence makes a huge difference. The Discovery College: Through Your Eyes, Inter House Art Competition has been a triumph!

All students in the College have been encouraged to create works that showcase their personal view of DC. It has been lovely to display these in our foyer over the past week, 

All art pieces on display earned House Points, with bonus points awarded to those that were runners up and overall winners. Our panel of judges are pleased to announce the individual winners: Lindsay, Year 12, and Cassie, Year 6.

“My artwork is a collection of 3 different areas representing the DC facilities staff; The security guard box office, the canteen, and cleaning supply storage. It is highlighting the under appreciated staff of DC that keep the school safe, alive, and thriving. To me, these are the people that truly make Discovery College what it is, and this piece is made to thank them.”

By making this a House competition, we are delighted to have provided additional motivation and inspiration for our students, who know that their efforts are not just for themselves, but their peers. Our top three House teams for this event are as follows:

Please be reminded that CCA enrolment closes by 10pm, Sunday, 6 September.

An overview of this academic year's CCA programme is now available on the Parent Portal. Please keep in mind that activities planned for later in the year may be adjusted depending on student interest and available resources. More CCA's may be added in due course and these will be communicated to you at a later stage.

Term 1 CCA dates:

• Monday, 21 September 2026 - CCAs commence 
• Friday, 4 December 2026 - CCAs end

To enrol:

Primary students 

-  Parents complete enrolment directly via the Ding VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) found in the ESF Mobile dashboard. 

Secondary students 

 - Students enrol in their Ding! platform. 

Parents are required to "approve" their child’s enrolment in the Ding VLE mobile app.

**IMPORTANT** Enrolling for a CCA does not guarantee a place in the activity. The status "Allocated" next to an activity name only acknowledges your interest; it is not a confirmation of available space in the CCA.

Students who are enrolled and accepted into a CCA programme will receive acceptance confirmation from the CCA Team. 

Due to the high demand for CCAs, we ask for your patience while waiting for a response. Enrolment will remain open for activities which have availability throughout the term.

The ESF community will come together to support our students at A Night at the Movies, this year’s ESF Secondary Music Festival. More than 220 musicians from seven schools will take to the stage at Tsuen Wan Town Hall at 7.15pm on Wednesday, 23 September. 

Students and alumni will perform music from film, television and musical theatre, including The Lord of the Rings, Rocky and Wicked, with performances from orchestras, bands and choirs. Tickets are available now through URBTIX. We hope you can join us for a fantastic evening of live music.

This summer, DC students Vanessa (Y10) and Alice (Y13) showcased incredible dedication and talent on the national stage, competing in two top-tier Chinese debate tournaments: the National Chinese Debate Championship for Primary and Secondary Schools (全国中小学生华语辩论锦标赛) and the International Chinese Debating Competition (ICDC / 新國辯).

The ICDC is widely recognized as one of the premier global arenas for Chinese-language debate, bringing together elite debaters for high-stakes competition. We are excited to celebrate their remarkable individual accomplishments over the break:

• National Runner-Up (2nd Place): Teaming up with debaters from Chinese International School (CIS), Alice navigated through intense rounds against top debaters nationwide to secure 2nd Place overall in the National Championship.

• Elite Competition Experience: Both Vanessa and Alice demonstrated sharp critical thinking, eloquence, and perseverance while competing at the highest level throughout both prestigious tournaments.

Congratulations to both debaters on their outstanding personal achievements!

The PTA are currently forming and expanding our PTA Committee. If you are interested in joining, please come along to our next PTA meeting to learn more. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together, reflect on the contributions the PTA made and the initiatives we sponsored during the 2025-26 school year, and discuss our plans for the upcoming year.
