Congratulations to U20 Boys Cricket Team

Congratulations to our Under 20 Boys Cricket Team, who have this week been crowned Champions at the prestigious ISSFHK tournament.

This outstanding achievement follows the success of our Primary and Under 14 Teams, and is testament to the strong program that our coaches Mr Ryan and Mr Van Tonder have put together. Moreover, it is a result of the talent and teamwork that the students bring to each match.

We look forward to the ongoing efforts and success of our players in future matches and in competitions.

Years 4 and 5 Interhouse Football

This afternoon, the foreshore at Discovery College buzzed with excitement as our Year 4 and 5 students participated in the much-anticipated inter-house football tournament. Teams from both girls and boys competed fiercely, showcasing their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

After a series of thrilling matches, Green House emerged victorious in the girls's tournament, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and determination. Meanwhile, the boys' teams were equally impressive. The competition was intense, with Red House narrowly claiming victory in the final match.

The inter-house football tournament not only highlighted the athletic abilities of our students but also fostered a sense of identity, community and sportsmansship among the participants and those who joined to cheer from the sidelines.

ESF Art Exhibition 2025: A Celebration of Generations

What do our students see when they look at the world - its past, present and future?

This year’s ESF Art Exhibition explores the theme Generations, inviting students from across our 22 schools - from K1 to Year 13 - to reflect on the people who shape our lives. Through painting, sculpture, mixed media and more, they will create work that celebrates connection, continuity and the creativity that links one generation to the next. We hope the spotlight shifts to the people and stories that connect us across time, place and experience.

From Discovery College, we proudly showcase 17 incredible artworks contributed by 28 artists, including individual, series, and collaborative pieces. The exhibition will also feature Riya (Y13)'s Do It for Her and Anvesha (Y5)'s Unity and Diversity, both selected for the ESF DEI Calendar 2025/2026.

We are excited to invite you to the ESF Art Exhibition 2025:

Date: 19 - 22 June 2025

Time: 10am - 7pm daily | 10am - 4pm (22June)

Venue: Hong Kong City Hall

Year 10 & 11 Chinese class trip to Jao Tsung-I Academy

Last Friday, 55 students from our Year 10 and Year 11 Chinese classes embarked on a vibrant journey through Hong Kong’s heritage at the Jao Tsung-I Academy.

Students deepened their understanding of local history through a Mandarin-guided tour, embracing authentic language immersion while exploring the academy’s rich cultural legacy. The adventure continued with a hands-on 面塑 workshop (dough figurine art), where they crafted intricate designs and connected with this treasured Chinese traditional art form.

It was a day of language, history, and creativity—bringing classroom learning to life!

DC Students participate in SIS Business Day

On 5 June, a group of 8 DC students traveled to South Island School to participate in the annual SIS Business Day. Students had to come up with a business plan and pitch to a range of industry experts from hedge fund managers to ESF's own marketing team.

The theme this year was to create a social enterprise that combines sustainable apparel and technology whilst giving back to the community. Our team put forward a comprehensive AI assisted formal wear/prom dress idea using upcycled textiles.

Well done to all the teams!

Chess Competition

Over the past two weeks, the SAA Captain team, under the supervision of Ms. Martina, hosted an MYP-wide chess tournament during lunchtime every Tuesday and Thursday. It was open to all MYP students regardless of skill level, so the tournament brought together a wide range of players, from complete beginners to chess enthusiasts.

This event wasn’t just about competition but rather bringing together the DC community. Students from different year levels had the opportunity to play against one another in a friendly and respectful manner.

By creating a space where students could step out of their comfort zones and take part in a low-pressure and fun environment, the tournament encouraged personal growth, sportsmanship, and connection. It reminded us that bonding can happen not just on a sports field but also over a chessboard.

We hope to organise another one of these tournaments with more players, and the inclusion of PYP as well.

A big thank you to all participants, Ms. Martina, and the SAA Captains for making this tournament such a success!

Congratulations to Ivan Ji (Year 9) in the 1000 elo category and Vihaan Ganatra (Year 7) in the under 700 elo.

Sign Language workshop for Y12 Students

We would like to thank Rossie Thomasson for visiting our Year 12 class as part of their Language and Cultural study. She delivered an informative and engaging presentation on Sign Language, covering practical signs, deaf culture, and common misconceptions.

The students found it fascinating as she explored the world of sign language. The session concluded with a lively Q&A, allowing everyone to delve deeper into the topic. We are grateful to Rossie for sharing her insights and experiences which in turn sparked meaningful discusisons.
