Message from Belinda Greer: Appointment of Principal of ESF Discovery College

Dear Parents,

I am delighted to be able to tell you that we have now successfully concluded the recruitment process for the new Principal of ESF Discovery College.

The successful candidate is Chloe Pollack, who is currently ESF’s Head of Education: Curriculum and Learning.

Chloe is an experienced and passionate educator who has worked in schools and education systems in her native US, Austria, China and here in Hong Kong. Throughout her career, Chloe has worked to build strong and vibrant communities in her schools - understanding that a positive and welcoming culture can have an incredible impact on students, parents and staff.

As a DC parent, Chloe already has strong ties to the community and I know that under her leadership the school will continue to grow, prosper and thrive in the years ahead.

She will take up the post at the start of the next school year.

Recruiting a Principal for an ESF school is an important task and we, rightfully, follow a rigorous process to identify the correct person for the job. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to that process over the past few weeks and months. I believe that, in Chloe, we have found an exceptional leader for the school.

As always, I want to thank you for your support.

Belinda Greer

Year 5 Poetry Slam

Our Year 5 students showcased their creativity and talent at the annual Poetry Slam last week, which was  the culmination of their Year 5 Poetry unit.

Final contestants wrote their own poems and were then judged on a range of features they used as well as their presentation style. Judges had a tough time deciding on the winner, but eventually Agastya from 5MWS emerged victorious!

Congratulations to Agastya and to all those who participated!

Year 3 Beach Clean Up

On Thursday, our Year 3 students took participatory action to help clean Sam Pak Wan beach. This supported their inquiries into human actions that impact the sustainability of the environment. Students developed their understanding of both individual and collective responsibility, as well as how when we work as a team, Together Every Achieves More.

Ensemble Evening 2025

Mark your calendars for an unforgettable night of music here at Discovery College. On Tuesday, 18 March starting at 6pm, our young and talented musicians from both primary and secondary schools will host the Ensemble Evening 2025.

Featuring performances by the DC Chamber Orchestra, Secondary Choir, Cobra Choir, and the DC Stage Band, this is an event you won’t want to miss! Best of all? It's FREE! Bring your friends and family, and enjoy an evening filled with beautiful voices,  soaring string and wind melodies and rhythm sections laying down foot tapping grooves. This is a night all about the joy of music collaboration.

So let’s come together as a school community to celebrate our young musicians. We can't wait to see you there!

Year 4 Rugby Team represents DC at Harrow Tag Rugby Festival

Our Year 4 rugby teams represented DC last week at the Harrow Tag Rugby festival.

They were playing their first competitive matches for DC and played many games against schools from across Hong Kong.

It was wonderful to see the fabulous progression in such a short span of time and the enjoyment of the players was obvious. We can't wait to see them in their next tournament!

DC hosts Cross Country Challenge

On 6 February, Discovery College hosted the HKPSSA cross country challenge.

It was an exciting event, that saw a number of international schools bring hundreds of young athletes to our campus. Runners completed a challenging course around Sienna Park, with the start and finish line in front of roaring crowds on the foreshore outside of school.

We are proud of all of our runners, who showed grit and team spirit throughout the event.  A special mention goes to Scott Sweet and Alberto Trusso Sfrazzetto, who brought home third place and first place, respectively, in the Under 10 event.
