Parent Information Fair 2025

A reminder that on Thursday, 28 August from 4.00pm - 7.30pm, Discovery College will be hosting its annual Parent Information Fair. For those who are new to the college, the Parent Information Fair is a very important date on our calendar for all parents, whether you have been at DC for several years, or are brand new. This evening is for parents only and is an important time to meet your child's teachers, to ask questions and to find out more about what the year has in store. Information shared is intended for a parent audience. The relationship between school and home is extremely important.

With this being said, we invite all DC Parents to please put aside some time to come and join us on August 28. For further information regarding the sessions available, locations and timings please view the Parent Information Fair Programme HERE.

Primary Update

Despite the miserable weather that started this week, our school has been absolutely buzzing with energy and excitement as we launch into the new academic year. It has been a true joy to finally welcome all of our new Year 1s, each one wide-eyed and full of possibility. There’s something magical about these first days, as our littlest learners take the leap into “big school,” hand in hand with their families and cheered on by our entire community.

Being part of an all-through school is a privilege that never loses its wonder. Each year, as we bid a fond farewell to our incredible Year 13s, sending them off into the world with pride, we are equally fortunate to welcome a new cohort of curious minds. This week, as I watched a Year 1 child struggling with a slightly-too-large backpack and nervously peering into a classroom, I saw an older student pause, kneel down, and offer a reassuring smile: “It’s okay, I remember my first day too. You’ll like it here, it's fun.” It’s these moments, where DC’s culture comes full circle. It reminds us as educators just how lucky we are. We get to witness the very first steps and the triumphant leaps; to watch your children grow from tentative beginnings into confident, world-ready young people. It’s a journey we never take for granted.

The first few weeks always bring their own challenges: unfamiliar routines, new faces, and rediscovering what it means to learn together after summers spent adventuring with family. But it doesn’t take long before the rhythms of school life return, laughter in the corridors, games on the playground, and the joy of seeing familiar teachers in PE, Chinese, Art, Drama, and, of course, the ever-wonderful songs with Mr McLeay.

Don’t forget, our annual Parent Information Fair is coming up on the 28 August. Keep an eye on our website and the Explorer for more details. In the meantime, please enjoy some photos of our students settling in, making friends, and reminding us all just how wonderful it is to be part of this vibrant, caring community.

We hope you have the best weekend with your children!

Y13 Science Collaborative Project

Over the past two days, our Year 13 students participated in the IB Group 4 Collaborative Science Project. This 10-hour initiative is an important part of their Diploma studies and brought students together in interdisciplinary teams to tackle real-world problems using scientific methods.

Projects ranged from creating a model heart pump and a chemical clock to designing a zipline delivery system and constructing a windmill. Throughout the process, students honed their analytical and problem-solving skills while collaborating and communicating effectively with their peers.

Well done to all the students involved for their creativity, teamwork, and dedication!

C9 Bus Stop, opposite Sienna Club

Due to the limited space available at the Tung Chung bus stop across the road from the Siena Club, there is not enough capacity for students taking the C9 bus to line up safely.

To ensure student safety, we are asking our community who wish to take the C9 bus between 3:00 - 3:30 pm to make their way to the North Plaza bus stop to board the bus.

The departure times from the North Plaza are as follows: 3.42pm and 3.55pm
