Parent Information Fair 2025

A big thank you to those who were able to attend the Parent Information Fair last night. It was lovely to see so many new and existing families on campus to meet teachers and to find out more about the college. For access to the HEO and Primary Year Level Presentations from last night please visit the Parent Education Page on the Parent Portal HERE (scroll down to 'Resources and Recordings From Past Events').

To help Discovery College continue to strengthen parent partnerships and continue to meet the changing needs within our community, we would appreciate a moment of your time to respond to the following questions in relation to last night's Parent Information Fair. Please click HERE to share your thoughts. Many thanks in advance.

Fun Friday!

Today was our first Fun-Friday! - a Student Council led initiative to bring students together through fun activities on the final Friday of each month.

We started the day with a DJ set in the foyer from 8:00, which had students (and some parents!) dancing on their way into classrooms.

At lunchtime there were Limbo Competitions for Upper Primary and Secondary students, where the audience were wowed by the agility and flexibility of a few hundred students that took part. Congratulations to the following, who were crowned winners, having all cleared 70cm:

Jenny An, Year 6
Teddy Mcleay, Year 5
Derya Kayala, Year 9
Joelle Lai, Year 9

Thank you to our Student Council for organising these events, we are already looking forward to the next one!

Enrolment for Term 1 CCAs opens at 4pm today

Enrolment for Term 1 CCAs opens at 4pm today (Friday, 29 August). Please complete your enrolment by 10am, Monday, 8 September when enrolments close.

The CCA Handbook 2025-26 contains a complete ‘live’ overview of the CCAs for this academic year. In the handbook, you will find a schedule for each year group, as well as instructions on how and when enrolment is open throughout the year.

Co-curricular activities that are opening for enrolment are:

  • Primary Cobra Sports
  • General CCAs
  • Student-led CCAs

*Secondary Cobra Sports are on Ding! for students to enrol for Season 1.

Term 1 CCA dates:

Monday 22 September - CCAs commence

Friday 5 December - CCAs end

To enrol in activities for:

  • Primary students
      • Parents complete enrolment directly via the Ding VLE App found in the ESF Dashboard.
  • Secondary students
    • Students select activity enrolment in their Ding! app.
    • Parents are required to "approve" their child’s enrolment in the Ding VLE.

A Ding! VLE app guide for enrolment can be accessed here.

**IMPORTANT** Enrolling for a CCA via the Ding! App does not mean you/your child is confirmed a place in the activity. “Allocated” beside the activity name, only acknowledges your application for enrolment, not confirmation of a place in the CCA.

Students who are Enrolled and Accepted into a CCA will receive acceptance confirmation from the CCA Team. Due to the high demand for CCAs, we ask for your patience while waiting for a response. Enrolment will remain open for activities which have availability throughout the term.

Year 5 Cultural Fair

To kick off the Year 5's unit of inquiry into various cultures, staff displayed some of their own cultural backgrounds to the students yesterday. The students were given an opportunity to wander around the cultural museum to take notes about interesting facts and details of various cultures, examine various artefacts, try on clothing and listen to music. It was a lively event which has the students excited about the inquiry into how these cultures impact their own beliefs, values and actions.

Swap & Shop Clothing Drive

Swap & Shop is a charity fashion fundraiser event held to display and sell repurposed clothes, led by our students. Their team was extremely successful in our events last year, raising over 10k total for different NGOs around Hong Kong, thanks to your donations and support!

We are pleased to announce that we will be having our second annual clothing drive next week. We hope that with your support, we can collect even more clothes than we did last year! All donated pieces that don’t end up being repurposed by our design team will be donated to The Salvation Army.

This is the perfect opportunity to donate your unused, old clothes to a great cause.

The Swap & Shop stall will be setup at the entrance of the G/F Foyer everyday next week from 8:00-8:20am (from 1 to 5 September), do drop by.

If you are unable to stop by during the weekdays, we will also be collecting clothes during the weekend (6-7 September). For further information, please email Zak - suardz1@dc.edu.hk or Athan - iut2@dc.edu.hk

Our Peanut-Free School Policy

As part of our ongoing commitment to the health and safety of our students, we want to reaffirm our status as a peanut-free school. This policy is in place to protect students who have peanut allergies, which can pose serious health risks. To support, we seek your cooperation the following areas:

  • Lunch and Snack Policies: We ask that parents provide snacks and lunches that do not contain peanuts or peanut products. Please read labels carefully to ensure that all food items are safe for our peanut-allergic students.

  • Classroom Celebrations: For classroom parties and celebrations, we encourage the use of peanut-free snacks and treats.

  • Education and Awareness: We will be educating our students about allergies and the importance of being mindful of their peers. This will foster a supportive environment for everyone.

We appreciate your cooperation and support in making our school a safe place for all students.
