Shi Jie Magazine 2024-25

We are excited to announce that our annual magazine, Shi Jie, is now available in digital format. You can read it HERE.

 

This publication features highlights from the first half of our year at Discovery College, including articles about student, alumni and staff experiences.

 

We are currently distributing physical copies to students and all students will have recieved theirs by early next week. We hope you enjoy reading it!

 

Swap & Shop Fashion Show

Last week, DC hosted an incredible Swap and Shop Fashion Show, brilliantly organised by our talented students! The runway was a vibrant showcase of colours and designs, featuring not only our student models but also the innovative creations of our student designers.
 
With fantastic music performances throughout the evening, it was truly a night to remember, all in support of the worthwhile cause of sustainable fashion. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event a success!
 
A special thank you to the student organisers, staff and parents for their time and support.

Year 7 Students Visit to Hong Kong Science Museum

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, our Year 7 students visited the Hong Kong Science Museum, exploring fascinating exhibits on forces and natural disasters, supported by our Individuals and Societies and Science teachers.

Students engaged with interactive displays that demonstrated gravity, friction, and other forces. A highlight was the section on natural disasters, where they learned about earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis through immersive experiences. Teachers facilitated discussions, helping students connect scientific concepts with real-world impacts.

This trip enriched student learning and sparked curiosity, making it a memorable educational experience. 

Book Author Visit - Year 5 and 6 Students

On Wednesday, 30 April, Discovery College had the pleasure of welcoming author Ritu Hemnani, who conducted engaging workshops for our Year 6 students on the Power of Words
 
During her visit, Ritu also shared her insights on the theme of migration to both year 5 & 6 students and discussed her two books, captivating the students with her storytelling and personal experiences.The students thoroughly enjoyed the session, finding it both informative and inspiring.

DC Visual Arts Teacher Exhibiting at the HK Affordable Art Fair

Our Visual Arts teacher, Ms. Jane Mitchell, will be exhibiting her artwork at the Affordable Art Fair from May 22 to 25. Jane is not only a passionate artist but also a dedicated educator, and her enthusiasm shines through in her art.
 

Ms. Mitchell has embraced numerous opportunities to engage with the global art community, transcending borders and showcasing her work on various international platforms. We would love for you to drop by and check out her incredible art pieces at the fair!
