Year 9 student shines in the Asia Pacific Youth Piano Competition

Gavin Sin in Year 9 recently participated in The 22nd Asia Pacific Outstanding Youth Piano Competition on 14 February and achieved third place in the Youth Professional Class which is the highest level for piano players under the age of 28. This is a truly remarkable achievement and we are all proud of Gavin.

UNICEF 2026

Over the past week, the UNICEF team has taken significant action to teach primary students about the SDGs and planet awareness. We held four workshops: one with each Year 5 class, where every student created their own terrarium!

Through exploring these mini ecosystems and learning how they sustain themselves, the Year 5 students gained valuable understanding for their upcoming 'Sharing the Planet' unit. They also discovered the importance of SDGs 13 and 15 in a fun, hands-on way through this interactive workshop experience.

Coming from the entire UNICEF team at DC, we are looking forward to hosting more activities like this to foster engagement and interest within students to learn more about the planet!

Year 1 trip to Hong Kong Park

To support the learning of our 'Sharing the Planet' unit of inquiry, Year 1 students visited Hong Kong Park this week. We explored the various wildlife spaces by visiting the aviary, tropical biomes, and the artificial lake. We thought about what we could see, hear, and smell, and used sketchnoting to record our thoughts and ideas. Year 1 students had a fantastic time and particularly enjoyed spotting the turtles and the waterfall, as well as identifying different species of birds.

A massive thank you to the Year 1 parents who volunteered their time to support this trip and helped create such a wonderful experience for students.
