The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), for our students from Years 1 to 6, focuses on inquiry-based learning and developing internationally-minded individuals. The PYP provides a framework of six transdisciplinary themes to explore the world and foster a love of learning. The culmination of the experience is the PYP Exhibition where students showcase their learning in diverse and creative ways, evidencing their understanding and agency through taking action.
Tailored for our Year 7 to Year 11 students, the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) emphasises critical thinking and connecting learning to real-world issues. The programme culminates in a personal project demonstrating student inquiry and application of their acquired skills.
A rigorous pre-university course for students in Year 12 and Year 13, the IB Diploma Programme (DP) is recognised globally for its academic breadth and depth. Students study six subjects, while also undertaking core components such as the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge, which promote independent research and critical thinking skills.
The IB Career-related Programme (CP), offered to Year 12 and Year 13 students, combines real-word and practical career-related studies with academic rigour. The CP integrates a career-related core consisting of 4 components, with students offered to take two or more DP subjects. The CP prepares students for future pathways including apprenticeships, higher education and entry into employment.

After over a decade of attending Discovery College, I can proudly say that I have never felt more part of a community and DC has become my second home and my family. Whether it be students, parents or staff; every person in our community has shown immense passion and kindliness to my cultivation and education. I will be forever grateful to my school for raising me through my whole childhood.

As a DCPTA member, I seek to work alongside the school to further strengthen parent connections and to add to the wonderful experience our children are already having at Discovery College. I hope to understand the needs of the community better and work alongside other parents to create special memories and bonds that they will cherish.

I'm Fabiana Drew, passionate about creating an outstanding educational experience for our kids. I've worked as a School inspector in England, checking out schools and ensuring they're top-notch. That experience was eye-opening, and it made me realise the incredible power parents have in shaping the educational journey for our little ones and the support we can provide to our hardworking teachers. I'm beyond thrilled for the opportunity to serve our school community as a member of the DC PTA.

Since DC is a school that teaches IB, we have the opportunity to learn and present our learning through multiple methods other than essays and exams.

I think the best part of learning in DC is the open minded approach the school has about different concepts of learning. New ideas are allowed to be explored during classes but the crucial part is allowing these ideas to flourish beyond class.

One of the best things about DC was the open mindedness of staff and the sense of inclusiveness felt by every student, including those who were a little different. People often ask me in university - “Would you have gone to a different school if you could”? The simple answer is, No, I wouldn't do it any differently.

What's New at DC?
Year 8's have had an exciting week of learning and creativity!
In Science, students related their learning of systems and relationships to the heart structure and function, gaining valuable insights though dissection experiments. In English, they designed innovative products to be sold in the school cafeteria and presented persuasive business pitches in a lively “Shark Tank” setting. The energy, imagination, and confidence on display were truly impressive - a glimpse of future surgeons and entrepreneurs in the making!
ACAMIS Basketball 2026 was a truly competitive competition for our Cobra teams and our teams showed unshakable spirit! The games at ACAMIS most definitely reflected their growth in the numerous competitive games that was played. Inspite of a few losses, the team grew stronger together fighting for every point, rebound, and pass throughout the tournament.
A special shout-out to our most valued players - Vili, Zak, Lucia G and Giulia for their exceptional display of team spirit on and off the court.
We may not have claimed the crown this year, but we are confident our team will return stronger and achieve resounding success in the next season!
Our three-week long photo journey concluded yesterday with the whole college photo. It was amazing to see everyone coming together and radiating the DC spirit, creating a special moment.
Thank you for all your enthusiasm and smiles! We loved capturing these special moments and hope you enjoyed them as much as we did.
Discovery College hosted an incredible Inter-School Cross Country last week which brought together primary students for a day filled with excitement and team spirt. Our students showed amazing resilience and team spirit across six divisions, cheered on by enthusiastic students and parents, creating a wonderful atmosphere.
DC finished an impressive second overall in the Under 8 division, which is a remarkable achievement. A special shout out to Alberto for clinching 1st place in the U10 category and to Pratyush for securing 3rd in the U8 division. Well done to all the participants!
A huge thank you to our coaches, organisers, and the cheering crowd whose energy lifted every runner up the hill!
Last weekend, our incredible student-led secretariat (Year 13 and 12 students) hosted DC’s 3rd Model United Nations Conference, welcoming over 200 participants from 12+ schools across Hong Kong.
From debating the Taliban regime in Afghanistan to revisiting the 1979 Nicaraguan Revolution, delegates tackled pressing global issues across 7 councils, including a special addition: FIFA.
Guest speakers Eric Styrson (Global Institute for Tomorrow) and Principal Chloe Pollack inspired the audience with insights on geopolitics, resilience, and leadership.

Last Friday, Year 4 enjoyed a fantastic Celebration of Learning, welcoming parents into the classroom to share their exciting work on body systems. From stop‑motion animations on body systems to building muscle models and measuring heart rates, the children confidently shared their knowledge through creative, hands‑on activities.
It was wonderful to see the children so engaged, proud, and articulate as they shared their learning. Well done to the Year 4 students!
Last week, our MYP students were deeply engaged in authentic interdisciplinary learning experiences, tackling real-world issues through collaboration, communication, and creative problem-solving. By combining knowledge across subjects, they designed prototypes, reflected on their process, and practiced the art of synthesis. These skills will empower them far beyond the classroom.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and their learning journey.
Yesterday’s recital evening was a true celebration of musical talent at DC. Students from both primary and secondary levels displayed their skills across a wide range of instruments from flute, saxophone, piano, and violin to traditional instruments. We also had some outstanding vocal performances from some of the higher secondary students, brining a rich diversity of sound, that had our audience captivated.
We extend our gratitude to the music leaders, MCs, and the entire music team for all their hard work in creating such a memorable evening. Congratulations to all our students for their incredible performances! We are immensely proud of the musical talent within our community, and we look forward with excitement to the next musical night!
After more than 10 years, our Secondary Sports Day made a triumphant return and it was a roaring success! A huge thank you to all our students for their enthusiastic participation and to the organising team for their hard work over the past few weeks.
It was wonderful to see the inter-house camaraderie, school spirit and sportsmanship between all the houses. From the 100m, 400m, and 1500m races to shot put, high jump, and long jump, students showcased their incredible athletic talents across a variety of events. The day ended on a high with the most anticipated relay run from our teachers, cheered on by students!
Congratulations to every student who competed and made their houses proud. And a special shout-out to Yellow House for emerging as the overall winners!
Our secondary artists have amazed us with creativity and growth in their first rotation of the year!
Year 7 explored ceramics, creating delicate sculptures that highlight environmental concerns and the planet’s fragility. Year 8 experimented with expressive portraiture, using bold colours and textures to capture emotion and identity. Year 9 ventured into surrealism, transforming dream journals into symbolic artworks that blur imagination and reality. Year 10 reimagined landscapes, abstracting personal photographs into canvases that reveal unique perspectives. Year 11 told cultural stories through still life, painting everyday objects that reflect heritage, memory, and belonging.
Congratulations to all our artists and a big thank you to the Visual Arts team for guiding students through their artistic journey!
